The
distance between the Kenyan Police Post and the Ethiopian Police Post at
Namoroputh is 16 km, while the distance between Ethiopian P.P. to Omorate town
(already within
Ethiopia
) is 24 km. Omorate has developed
rapidly over the years and today there are tourist hotels and an immigration
office. Construction work on a new
bridge spanning the
Omo
River
further north of Omorate is under way.
